I was searching for information on the
Canadian Cricket Team, when I found out about the
Seattle Cricket Club as well. It amuses me greatly to see that folk in the states do indeed play cricket, and understand the time honoured tradition of wasting an afternoon in the sun, watching men in white sock the bee-jesus out of a little red ball.
Every North American I know mocks cricket as being tedious and complex. They then proceed to tell me all about baseball, which is not only tedious, but not even complex. Get this: the ball does not bounce. Where's the fun in that? No spin, no darting around of ball to confuse the batsman. And it's more than just about hitting a home run. Getting the ball between the fielders (who, unlike baseball, position themsleves in different places). Plus you can sit all day and watch cricket while drinking beer in the sun. And it's got more stats for the geek fanboys to pour over.
Just don't mention 5-day internationals. They must be the only sport in the world were it takes 5 days to play and the most common result is a draw.
