This blog is shortly closing. It's hard to decide where to go, here or livejournal, but livejournal has -feedback- to massage and satisfy my ego.

The Cesspit Journal can now be found at thecesspit.livejournal.com. Hope to see some of you around

I was searching for information on the Canadian Cricket Team, when I found out about the Seattle Cricket Club as well. It amuses me greatly to see that folk in the states do indeed play cricket, and understand the time honoured tradition of wasting an afternoon in the sun, watching men in white sock the bee-jesus out of a little red ball.

Every North American I know mocks cricket as being tedious and complex. They then proceed to tell me all about baseball, which is not only tedious, but not even complex. Get this: the ball does not bounce. Where's the fun in that? No spin, no darting around of ball to confuse the batsman. And it's more than just about hitting a home run. Getting the ball between the fielders (who, unlike baseball, position themsleves in different places). Plus you can sit all day and watch cricket while drinking beer in the sun. And it's got more stats for the geek fanboys to pour over.

Just don't mention 5-day internationals. They must be the only sport in the world were it takes 5 days to play and the most common result is a draw.

This takes the biscuit. In order to prove that we should go to war with Iraq, the government has released a dossier of information. Containing grammatical errors lifted word for word from a student thesis! That is not proof, thats lies and propaganda. And Hussain is accused of playing games? Why do these world leaders want to kill people? That is the bottom line. They will kill people. Thats not very Christian. Meanwhile in Israel the Iraeli government continues to pursue a terroristic approach to the Palestinians (who are no saints either). North Korea threatens to attack the US if any new forces come into that region. And to consider that the Taliban threat is over if Afghanistan is madness. The US cannot act as the world's policeman. It doesn't have the resources.

And nor do we. With inflation growing, output falling and the recession continuing on, a war will mean job losses and increased taxation. This is a screw job by our leaders.

The wikipedia is a very worthy cause. Like most worthy causes, it's easy to abuse as well. The idea of an open source encylopedia is great, but what is to stop anyone making the whole lot up? Or editing someone's entry and changing it? I suppose if you trust people. However, it seems to me to be a great source to just change the world into how it should be, and will ultimately fail due to incorrect, misleading or useful entries. (Check out Constans, for instance).
